Muslim Presence in Vientiane: Vientiane, the capital of Laos, is home to a small but established Muslim community. While exact historical records are limited, the presence of Muslims in the city dates back several decades, with families and individuals contributing to the local fabric. The community is diverse, including both native Laotian Muslims and expatriates from various countries. Over time, they have established places of worship and maintained their religious practices in this predominantly Buddhist nation.

Community Implantation and Mosques: The Muslim community in Vientiane is served by several prayer places, with the most prominent being Masjid Darun Muttakin, located in the nearby Mueang Nong Khai District across the border in Thailand. This mosque serves as a central hub for worship and community gatherings. Other mapped prayer places include Masjid Samsuddin and T1 club in the same district, as well as Mosque Mushola in Sangkhom District. These facilities reflect the community's presence in areas near the Mekong River, where many Muslims reside and work.

Prayer Time Orientation: Muslims in Vientiane follow the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—timed according to the sun's position. The city lies in the Asia/Vientiane timezone, and prayer times vary throughout the year due to seasonal changes in sunrise and sunset. The calculation method used ensures accuracy for local conditions. The Qibla direction for prayer is oriented towards Mecca, with a bearing that aligns with the city's latitude and longitude. This guidance helps worshippers face the Kaaba during their prayers.
