Muslim Presence in Misratah: Misratah, a major city in northwestern Libya, has a long-standing Muslim community that has grown over generations. The city's Islamic heritage is reflected in its numerous mosques and prayer spaces, which serve as centers for worship and community life. The population of over 355,000 includes a diverse mix of residents who observe the five daily prayers as part of their faith.

Community Implantation through Mosques: The Muslim community in Misratah is well-served by a network of prayer places across the city. Notable among these is Al Matos Mosque, located in the city center, which stands as a central place of worship. Other key mosques include Al Madina Mosque and Abu Shahma Mosque, both within walking distance in the urban core. Further afield, mosques such as Al Noor Mosque and Al-Isra Mosque serve neighborhoods to the east, while Al Marwa Mosque and Aswar Mosque cater to areas in the south. This distribution of prayer places reflects the widespread presence of Muslims throughout Misratah.

Prayer-Time Orientation: For Muslims in Misratah, the daily rhythm of prayer follows the five obligatory times: Fajr at dawn, Dhuhr at midday, Asr in the afternoon, Maghrib at sunset, and Isha at nightfall. These times vary throughout the year due to changes in sunrise and sunset, influenced by Misratah's latitude and the seasons. The city operates on Africa/Tripoli time (UTC+2). Prayer times are calculated using a standard method, and the Qibla direction for prayer is oriented towards Mecca, which lies to the east-southeast. The distance from Misratah to Mecca is approximately 2,700 kilometers, a fact that underscores the city's connection to the Islamic world.
