Muslim Presence in Cairo: Cairo is a historic center of Islamic civilization, home to a large and diverse Muslim community that has shaped the city's identity for centuries. The city's population of nearly 10 million includes a vast majority of Muslims, who practice their faith in daily life. Cairo's Islamic heritage is evident in its architecture, culture, and the rhythm of daily life, which revolves around the five daily prayers.

Community Implantation: The Muslim community in Cairo is deeply implanted across the city, with numerous mosques and prayer places serving residents in every district. Notable among them is Al-Azhar Mosque, a prominent landmark in El Gamaliya, which stands as a central institution for Islamic learning and worship. Other key prayer places include Sayida Aisha Masjed in El Khalifa, Amr ibn al-As Mosque in Old Cairo, and Al-Hakim Mosque in El Gamaliya. These mosques, along with many others in areas like El Weili, El Sayeda Zeinab, and Daher, provide a comprehensive network for the community's spiritual needs.

Prayer-Time Orientation: In Cairo, the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—follow the sun's position and vary throughout the year due to the city's latitude and seasonal changes. The city operates on Africa/Cairo timezone, and prayer times are calculated using a standard method. Muslims face the Qibla direction, which is oriented towards Mecca, located a significant distance away. Understanding these variations helps residents and visitors plan their day around prayer times, whether at home, work, or while traveling.
