Mosques • Xochimilco

Xochimilco, a borough in southern Mexico City known for its historic canals and chinampas, is home to a small but growing Muslim community. While Xochimilco itself does not have a dedicated mosque, the mapped data reveals a network of 20 prayer places within a 50 km radius, primarily located in central and eastern areas of the Mexico City metropolitan region. These include well-known institutions such as the Centro Educativo de la Comunidad Musulmana (Mezquita de Polanco) in the Polanco district, Mezquita Abu Bakr in Nativitas, Benito Juárez, and the Centro Islámico Cultural (Mezquita de Aragón) in San Juan de Aragón, Gustavo A. Madero. Other listed prayer rooms are scattered across neighborhoods like Cuauhtémoc, Miguel Hidalgo, and Tláhuac, as well as in municipalities of the State of Mexico such as Chimalhuacán, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, and Ecatepec de Morelos.

The distribution of these prayer places reflects the broader implantation of Islamic facilities across the Mexico City area, with clusters in central boroughs and northern suburbs. For instance, addresses in Cuauhtémoc include Musalah Al Ajirah on Margarita Street and a location on Avenida Hidalgo, while in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, two sites are recorded on Avenida Prolongación Chimalhuacán and Calle Oriente 8. The southern zone, including Xochimilco and Tláhuac, has fewer listed prayer places, with only one in Tláhuac's Jardines del Llano neighborhood. This suggests that Muslims in Xochimilco may need to travel to nearby boroughs or municipalities for congregational prayers, especially for Jumu'ah or Eid gatherings.

For new arrivals, students, workers, or families in Xochimilco, the closest listed mosque is Mezquita Abu Bakr in Benito Juárez, approximately 14.5 km away, followed by several options in Cuauhtémoc and Miguel Hidalgo around 20 km distant. The mapped data includes a variety of facilities, from established cultural centers to smaller prayer rooms, though users should verify addresses and contact details before visiting. While Xochimilco lacks its own mosque, the surrounding area offers a range of prayer spaces that serve the Muslim community across the capital region.

Check the address and distance of each mosque before visiting. Many listed prayer places are in Mexico City boroughs or State of Mexico municipalities; verify opening hours and prayer times directly. Contact fields may be available for some mosques. Use the map to find the nearest location.
