Muslim Presence in Shunyi: Shunyi, a district of Beijing, is home to a modest Muslim community that has been part of the city's fabric for generations. While the historical roots of Islam in Shunyi are not extensively documented, the presence of several mosques and prayer places in the broader Beijing area indicates a long-standing Muslim settlement in the region. The community includes both local Chinese Muslims and migrants from other parts of China, contributing to the diverse cultural landscape of the city.

Community and Prayer Places: The Muslim community in Shunyi is served by a network of mosques and prayer rooms, many located in nearby districts. Notably, the Niujie Mosque in Xicheng District, one of the oldest and most prominent mosques in Beijing, is a key religious center for Muslims in the area. Other significant prayer places include the Dongsi Mosque in Dongcheng and the Madian Mosque in Haidian District. Within Shunyi itself, the Gaoliying Mosque (高丽营清真寺) on Yu'an Road provides a local place of worship for residents. These mapped prayer places reflect the implantation of the Muslim community across various sectors of Beijing, including Dongcheng, Xicheng, Haidian, and Chaoyang districts.

Prayer Time Orientation: For Muslims in Shunyi, the daily prayer rhythm follows the five obligatory prayers: Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. The timings vary throughout the year due to the city's latitude and the changing seasons, with longer days in summer and shorter in winter. Shunyi operates on Asia/Shanghai time (UTC+8). The Qibla direction for prayers is oriented towards Mecca, with a specific bearing that can be determined using local tools. The distance from Shunyi to Mecca is approximately 7,600 kilometers.
