Tombul Mosque, also known as Sherif Halil Pasha Mosque, is a historic Ottoman mosque located in the center of Shumen, Bulgaria. Built in 1744, it is one of the largest and most significant mosques in the Balkans, renowned for its impressive architecture and well-preserved interior. The mosque features a large central dome, a tall minaret, and an interior decorated with colorful floral and geometric frescoes, as well as intricate calligraphy. The complex also includes a library and a madrasa (Islamic school), which now houses a museum dedicated to the history of the mosque and the region. Tombul Mosque remains an active place of worship and a popular tourist attraction, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Ottoman period in Bulgaria.
