Muslim Presence in Scottsdale. Scottsdale, a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, is home to a growing Muslim community that has established itself over the past few decades. While the exact historical roots are not documented here, the presence of several Islamic centers and mosques in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area reflects a stable and active Muslim population. Muslims in Scottsdale and surrounding cities contribute to the region's cultural and religious diversity, with many families, professionals, and students practicing their faith while integrating into the local community.

Local Mosques and Prayer Places. The Muslim community in the Scottsdale area is served by numerous mosques and Islamic centers within a reasonable distance. Notable among them is the Tempe Mosque (Islamic Community Center) located at 131 E 6th St in Tempe, about 10 km away, which serves as a central prayer place for many. Other nearby centers include the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix (ICCP) on West Orangewood Avenue, the Islamic Center of the East Valley (ICEV) in Chandler, and the Muslim Community Mosque Phoenix on North 32nd Street. These facilities, along with others in Tempe, Chandler, Phoenix, Glendale, and Mesa, provide regular daily prayers, Friday sermons, and community activities, ensuring that Muslims in Scottsdale have access to prayer spaces and religious services.

Prayer Time Orientation. Prayer times in Scottsdale are determined by the position of the sun and vary throughout the year due to changes in sunrise and sunset. The five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—follow a rhythm that shifts with the seasons, with longer days in summer and shorter days in winter. The city operates on the America/Phoenix timezone (Mountain Standard Time, no DST). The calculation method used for these times is based on standard Islamic jurisprudence. The Qibla direction for prayer is towards the Kaaba in Mecca, and from Scottsdale, the bearing is approximately east-southeast. The distance to Mecca is roughly 13,000 km. Understanding these factors helps Muslims in Scottsdale maintain their daily prayer routine with accuracy and consistency.
