Al Masjid-e-Nabawi, meaning the Prophet's Mosque, is a major Islamic site in Medina, Saudi Arabia. It is the second holiest mosque in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. Originally built by the Prophet Muhammad himself, the mosque has undergone numerous expansions over the centuries. It houses the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad, as well as the tombs of the first two caliphs, Abu Bakr and Umar. The mosque is known for its distinctive green dome and its vast prayer halls that can accommodate millions of worshippers, especially during the Hajj and Ramadan periods. It is a central place of worship and pilgrimage for Muslims worldwide.
