Muslim Presence in Mazatlán: The Muslim community in Mazatlán, a coastal city in Sinaloa, Mexico, has grown steadily over recent decades, reflecting the broader expansion of Islam in Latin America. While historical records are limited, the community is known to be diverse, comprising both local converts and immigrants from various countries. This small but active group maintains its religious practices in a predominantly Catholic society, contributing to the city's multicultural fabric.

Community Implantation: Currently, the Muslim community in Mazatlán is centered around a few key locations, though specific mosque details are not widely documented. The community gathers for prayers in private spaces or rented venues, as there are no permanent mosques listed in public records. This reflects the early stage of institutional development, with efforts focused on establishing a more permanent place of worship. The community's presence is felt in residential areas and through cultural events that promote interfaith understanding.

Prayer-Time Orientation: For Muslims in Mazatlán, the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—structure the day according to the sun's position. Prayer times vary throughout the year due to the city's latitude (23.2°N) and its location in the America/Mazatlan time zone. The calculation method used is standard for North America, ensuring alignment with local sunset and sunrise. The Qibla direction, facing towards Mecca, is determined by the city's coordinates, with a bearing that orients prayers to the northeast. This daily rhythm connects the community to the global Muslim ummah, despite the distance of over 13,000 kilometers to Mecca.
