Muslim Presence in Liège: Liège, a major city in Belgium's Walloon region, has been home to a Muslim community for decades, shaped by waves of labor migration and family reunification. The community is well-established, with a visible presence in the city's urban fabric. While exact historical origins are not documented here, the long-term settlement of Muslims in Liège is evident through the network of prayer spaces and cultural associations that serve the faithful.

Community Implantation: The Muslim community in Liège is served by a network of over 20 mapped prayer places, including mosques and Islamic centers. Notable among them is the Mosquée de Seraing, located at Rue Cockerill 98 in the nearby commune of Seraing, just 4.6 km from central Liège. Other prayer places are found in Seraing, Verviers, and Genk, reflecting a regional implantation. The Mosquée El-Hijra numero 93 on Rue Ferdinand Nicolay in Seraing is another key site. These facilities provide spaces for daily prayers, Friday sermons, and community gatherings, supporting residents, students, and workers across the city and its suburbs.

Prayer-Time Orientation: Muslims in Liège follow the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—timed according to the sun's position. Prayer times vary throughout the year due to Liège's latitude (50.6°N) and seasonal changes in sunrise and sunset. The city operates on Central European Time (Europe/Brussels). The Qibla direction, indicating the orientation toward Mecca, is a fixed bearing from Liège, and the distance to Mecca is approximately 4,500 km. The calculation method used for prayer times is a standard convention, ensuring consistency for the local community.
