Muslim Presence in Lagos: Lagos, Nigeria's largest city with a population of over 15 million, has a significant and long-established Muslim community. Islam arrived in the region centuries ago through trade routes, and today Muslims are an integral part of the city's diverse fabric. The community is well-organized, with numerous mosques and prayer centers serving residents across the metropolis.

Community Implantation: The Muslim community in Lagos is widely spread, with prayer places found in virtually every neighborhood. Notable among them is Alaja Central Mosque in Ifo, Ogun State, which serves as a central prayer place for the area. Other prominent mosques include Akoka Central Mosque, Alausa Central Mosque in Ikeja, and Alhaji Lazeez Ojora Central Mosque in Amukoko. These mosques, along with many others in Surulere, Mushin, Oshodi, Isolo, Ejigbo, Ikotun, and Ikorodu, provide accessible spaces for daily prayers and community gatherings.

Prayer Time Orientation: Muslims in Lagos observe the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—according to the city's timezone (Africa/Lagos). Prayer times vary throughout the year due to seasonal changes in sunrise and sunset, influenced by Lagos's latitude. The calculation method used ensures accurate timings. The Qibla direction for Lagos is oriented towards Mecca, which is located approximately 4,500 kilometers away. This consistency helps residents and visitors maintain their daily prayer routines.
