Muslim Presence in İzmit: İzmit, a historic city on the Gulf of İzmit, has been home to a Muslim community for centuries. The city's Islamic heritage is reflected in its many mosques and prayer spaces, which serve as spiritual and social centers for residents. The Muslim population, estimated at over 196,000, contributes to the city's cultural fabric, with Islamic traditions woven into daily life.

Community Implantation: The Muslim community in İzmit is well-established, with numerous mosques and prayer places across the city and its surrounding districts. Notable among them is the Yeni Cuma (Pertev Mehmet Paşa) Camii, located in the Karabaş neighborhood, just 0.3 km from the city center. This historic mosque is a key landmark for worshippers. Other significant prayer places include Fevziye Mosque in Tepecik, and mosques in nearby districts such as Derince, Gölcük, Başiskele, and Körfez, reflecting the widespread presence of Islamic worship spaces throughout the region.

Prayer Time Orientation: Muslims in İzmit observe the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—according to the city's timezone (Europe/Istanbul). Prayer times vary throughout the year due to seasonal changes in sunrise and sunset, influenced by İzmit's latitude. The Qibla direction is oriented towards Mecca, and the distance to the holy city is approximately 2,000 km. The calculation method used for prayer times is standard for Turkey, ensuring accuracy for the local community.
