Muslim presence in Gijón: Gijón, a coastal city in Asturias, has a small but established Muslim community. Over the years, Muslims have settled in the city, contributing to its multicultural fabric. The community is centered around local prayer spaces that serve the spiritual needs of residents, students, and workers.

Community and prayer places: The main prayer place in Gijón is Comunidad Musulmana de Gijón Al Mohcinin, located at C. Cuenca, 10 in the Centro district. This mosque provides a focal point for daily prayers and community gatherings. Additionally, nearby Avilés hosts two other Islamic centers: Comunidad Islámica de Avilés and Comunidad La Mezquita Islamica de Avilés, both on C. de Alvarez Gendin, serving the broader region.

Prayer time orientation: In Gijón, the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—follow the rhythm of the sun. Times vary throughout the year due to the city's latitude and seasonal changes in sunrise and sunset. The city operates on the Europe/Madrid timezone. Prayer times are calculated using a standard method, and the Qibla direction is oriented towards Mecca, located thousands of kilometers to the southeast.
