Muslim Presence in Criciúma Criciúma, a city in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, is home to a small but established Muslim community. Over the years, Muslims have settled in the city, contributing to its multicultural fabric. While the community is not large, it maintains its religious practices through local prayer spaces and gatherings.

Community Implantation The Muslim community in Criciúma is centered around the Mesquita Palestina مسجد, located at R. Palestina, 205 in the Pinheirinho neighborhood. This mosque serves as a key prayer place for local Muslims. Additionally, a mapped prayer place in nearby Pedras Grandes, about 36 km away, indicates a broader regional presence. These locations help define the areas where Muslims gather for worship.

Prayer-Time Orientation In Criciúma, Muslims observe the five daily prayers—Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha—according to the city's timezone, America/Sao_Paulo. Prayer times vary throughout the year due to changes in sunrise and sunset, influenced by the city's latitude and the seasons. The Qibla direction and distance to Mecca are key for orientation during prayer. The calculation method used ensures times are adjusted for local conditions.
