Omeriye Mosque is a historic mosque situated in the heart of the walled city of Nicosia, Cyprus. Originally constructed as a Gothic church dedicated to St. Mary, it was converted into a mosque following the Ottoman conquest of the city in 1570. The building retains many Gothic architectural features, including pointed arches and a bell tower that was repurposed as a minaret. The mosque is named after the Ottoman sultan Selim II, also known as Selim the Drunkard, whose epithet was "Omeriye." It remains an active place of worship for the local Muslim community and is a notable example of the island's layered religious history.
