Makkah Masjid is one of the largest and oldest mosques in Hyderabad, India. Its construction was commissioned by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, and completed in 1694 by Emperor Aurangzeb. The mosque is built entirely from local granite and features a grand courtyard that can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers. Notable for its impressive architecture, the mosque incorporates bricks brought from Mecca, considered sacred, and is decorated with exquisite Belgian crystal chandeliers. The structure is a fine example of Islamic architecture with its large arches, minarets, and intricate carvings. Located near the iconic Charminar, it remains a significant religious and historical landmark in the city.
